Custom Plastic

Custom plastic CNC machining is the precision processing of engineering thermoplastics manufactured to customer-defined specifications. Unlike metals, plastics require specialized machining strategies—sharp tooling, positive rake angles, efficient chip evacuation, and temperature control to prevent melting or smearing. Engineering plastics offer distinct advantages: light weight, corrosion resistance, electrical insulation, self-lubrication, and design flexibility.

Commonly machined plastics include PEEK, Acrylic, Nylon, Delrin, PTFE, ABS, Polycarbonate, and Ultem. Tolerances are held to ±0.02-0.05mm standard, with precision work at ±0.01mm. Every custom order is unique—your design, your tolerances, your material, your finish.

FAQs
  • What is custom plastic CNC machining?

We produce plastic parts to your specific design—your dimensions, tolerances, material, and finish. Every job is unique and built to your requirements.
  • What plastics can you machine for custom orders?

PEEK, Acrylic, Nylon, Delrin, PTFE, ABS, Polycarbonate, and Ultem. We machine all common engineering thermoplastics.
  • How does machining plastic differ from machining metal?

Plastics require sharp tooling, positive rake angles, and efficient chip evacuation to prevent melting or smearing. Heat management is critical—plastics have poor thermal conductivity and can melt from cutting friction.
  • What is the most machinable plastic?

Delrin (acetal) is considered the most machinable engineering plastic. ABS is also highly machinable for general-purpose parts.
  • What is the typical lead time for custom plastic parts?

Prototypes in 3-5 business days. Production orders in 10-20 business days.
  • Is there a minimum order quantity?

No. We machine single prototypes and high-volume production runs with the same quality standards.
