Swiss CNC

Swiss CNC turning uses a sliding headstock and guide bushing that supports the workpiece close to the cutting point, providing exceptional stability for long, slender parts with length-to-diameter ratios exceeding 10:1. Diameter capacity up to 32mm. Live tooling enables cross-holes, slots, and threads in a single cycle. The process delivers superior concentricity, fine surface finishes, and the ability to machine complex small parts in one setup. High-volume production with automated bar feeding is standard. Applications include medical instruments, electronics pins, automotive fuel system components, and watchmaking parts.

FAQs
  • What is Swiss CNC turning?

Swiss turning uses a sliding headstock and guide bushing that supports the workpiece close to the cutting point, providing stability for long, slender parts with high length-to-diameter ratios.
  • When should I choose Swiss turning?

When your part has a length-to-diameter ratio exceeding 10:1, or when you need very tight concentricity and fine surface finish on small parts—typically under 32mm diameter.
  • What are the advantages of Swiss turning?

Superior concentricity, fine surface finish, ability to machine long slender parts without deflection, and complex parts in a single cycle with live tooling.
  • What is the maximum diameter for Swiss turning?

Up to 32mm diameter. Parts larger than that are better suited to conventional turning.
  • Is Swiss turning more expensive?

Yes, but for high-volume small parts, the productivity and quality benefits often justify the cost.
  • What industries use Swiss turning?

Medical devices, electronics, automotive fuel systems, watchmaking, and any industry requiring small, high-precision cylindrical parts.
