CNC EDM

CNC EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) is a non-contact machining process that removes material using controlled electrical sparks between an electrode and the workpiece. The process is capable of machining extremely hard materials that are difficult to cut with conventional tools. Two primary EDM methods: Wire EDM uses a thin wire to cut through conductive materials, producing precise profiles and shapes. Sinker EDM uses a custom-shaped electrode to create cavities and complex internal features. Wire EDM holds tolerances of ±0.005mm, sinker EDM holds ±0.01mm. Materials include hardened tool steels, titanium, carbide, Inconel, and other conductive materials. Common applications include precision dies, mold cavities, aerospace components, medical parts, and semiconductor equipment.

Capabilities
We provide CNC EDM services including wire EDM and sinker EDM. Wire EDM cuts conductive materials with a thin wire electrode—precise profiles, tight corners, and complex shapes. Sinker EDM creates cavities, internal features, and complex 3D shapes with custom electrodes. Materials include hardened steels, titanium, carbide, Inconel, and other conductive materials. Wire EDM holds ±0.005mm, sinker EDM holds ±0.01mm. Surface finishes reach Ra 0.8μm.

FAQs
  • What is EDM machining?

Electrical Discharge Machining—a non-contact process that removes material using electrical sparks between an electrode and the workpiece.
  • What is the difference between wire and sinker EDM?

Wire EDM uses a thin wire to cut through materials. Sinker EDM uses a custom-shaped electrode to create cavities.
  • What materials can be EDM machined?

Any conductive material—hardened tool steels, titanium, carbide, Inconel, and other difficult-to-machine materials.
  • What tolerances can EDM achieve?

Wire EDM: ±0.005mm. Sinker EDM: ±0.01mm.
  • What surface finish can EDM achieve?

Ra 0.8μm achievable. Ra 0.4μm on request.
  • When should I use EDM over conventional machining?

When materials are too hard for conventional cutting, or when features are too complex for conventional tool access.
