Precision CNC Milling
Precision CNC milling achieves tighter tolerances and finer surface finishes than standard milling. Typical precision work holds ±0.01mm, with high-precision work reaching ±0.005mm. The process requires machine tools with high rigidity and thermal stability, precision spindles, accurate scales and encoders, and temperature-controlled environments. Inspection uses high-accuracy CMMs. Industries requiring precision milling include aerospace flight controls, medical implants, semiconductor equipment, optical components, and precision robotics. Process capability is documented through Cpk analysis, maintaining Cpk > 1.33 on critical dimensions.
