4-Axis CNC Milling
4-axis CNC milling adds a rotary axis to the standard X, Y, and Z movements, typically rotating around either the X-axis or Z-axis. This allows machining of cylindrical features, angled surfaces, and multiple faces in a single setup. The additional axis reduces the need for repositioning, improving accuracy and reducing cycle time. 4-axis milling is commonly used for parts with features around a central axis—such as helical slots, cam profiles, and parts with angled holes or undercuts that would require multiple setups on a 3-axis machine.
