5-Axis CNC Milling
5-axis CNC milling adds two rotary axes to the standard X, Y, and Z movements, allowing the cutting tool to approach the workpiece from any angle. This enables machining of complex freeform surfaces, deep cavities, undercuts, and features on multiple faces in a single setup—reducing setup time, improving accuracy, and enabling geometries impossible on 3 or 4-axis machines. 5-axis milling is widely used for aerospace structural components, impellers, turbine blades, medical implants, and complex automotive parts. Simultaneous 5-axis machining allows continuous tool orientation, while 3+2 machining (positional 5-axis) indexes the workpiece for different setups.
