We manufactured a precision 6061-T6 multi-step rotary positioning flange cover plate for a medical imaging equipment application. This component serves as a precision rotary interface within the imaging system — requiring accurate multi-step end-face parallelism and coaxiality, precise angular alignment of annular locating slots and indexing notches, clean finishing of complex contoured clearance features, and controlled threaded hole depth accuracy for fastener assembly. 6061-T6 Aluminum was selected for its excellent machinability and dimensional stability. We applied single-setup turn-mill machining to complete all stepped end-faces and critical features in one clamping — eliminating re-fixturing errors and maintaining parallelism and coaxiality. The annular slot and notch features were machined with precision indexing, referencing a common datum. Complex contoured clearance features were finished using specialized corner tools and optimized toolpath strategies to achieve clean internal corners. Threaded holes were machined with controlled depth cycles and verified with depth gauges. The cover plate was then bead-blasted and matte silver anodized for a uniform, corrosion-resistant finish meeting medical device aesthetic standards.
